  1. You didn’t say one important thing. Increasing WordPress memory limit does not mean that PHP limit will be increased too. It depends on server’s configuration will this work, and most shared hosting accounts have PHP memory limits which can’t be increased.

    • @Milan,

Thanks for pointing that out. To clarify, the plugin does directly affect the PHP memory limits while at the same time overriding the WordPress memory limits. It’s true that server configuration does affect how high this limit can ultimately be pushed, and we’ve made sure to include plenty of warning on the plugin settings page.

There are a huge variety of hosting configurations, particularly with shared hosts, but the way many of them work is by having a ‘default’ PHP limit of, say 16MB or 32MB; and a ‘maximum’ PHP limit that’s higher – many shared hosts now provide a maximum limit of 64MB, 128MB and even in some cases 256MB. If you’re on a shared host with a ‘default’ memory limit of 16MB, WordPress will automatically bump it up to 32MB – but Cobalt WP Boost helps push it up as high as 128MB if the server’s ‘maximum’ PHP memory limit allows. As stated on the plugin settings page, it’s always wise to contact your host or read their Knowledge Base before attempting to push PHP Memory beyond 32MB.
